Sunshine and Strolls at Hergest Croft Gardens

A sunny June outing to Kington brought smiles, scenic strolls, and plenty of cake and good company
On Tuesday 17th June 2025, a cheerful group of LWCT day-trippers set off for a visit to the beautiful Hergest Croft Gardens in Kington. The weather couldn’t have been better — warm sunshine and clear skies made for a perfect outing.
After arriving mid-morning, the group enjoyed a relaxed lunch out on the veranda, soaking up the views and the summer air. The afternoon was spent exploring the gardens, which were in full bloom. From vibrant borders to peaceful woodland walks, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Finding out that Hergest Croft has more than 5,000 rare and exotic trees and shrubs, including the National Collection of Maples, was surprising to first-time visitors. This place is a true delight for those who love gardens.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on the friendly atmosphere and the chance to enjoy a day out in good company.
These fun day trips are a regular feature of LWCT’s summer calendar, offering a chance to experience somewhere new — or simply enjoy lunch out with good company. The destinations are often suggested by our users and range from local favourites to coastal getaways.
We aim to make our outings as inclusive and welcoming as possible, and we’re happy to accommodate specific needs — just let us know when booking.
More trips are in the pipeline…
We’re planning excursions to the seaside at Aberystwyth and Tenby in the coming months. As always, transport is subsidised, and we welcome suggestions for future outings.
