Talgarth Mill Day Out
Twelve of us had a lovely outing to Talgarth Mill on August 20th, 2019, with our driver John.The weather was very kind to us, and we were able to begin with lunch in the Bakers Table Café – where the food is somewhat delicious.
Talgarth Mill stopped turning in 1946, but the local community were determined to see it in action once more. In May 2010 they received lottery funding to restore the 18th Century Watermill to full working order.
Today flour from Llowes is milled four times a week and bread baking takes place on five days a week. The mill is well worth a visit, with its delightful café, craft shop and peaceful grounds where seasonal vegetables and flowers are grown, and you can see the waterwheel scooping up the water from the River Ennig.
Craft work by local artisans can be seen and purchased from the craft shop, plus freshly baked crusty bread, freshly ground flour and bread kits can be purchased from the café.
We were taken on a tour of the mill by Rob, one of the many volunteers who keep the mill running.
