Social Enterprise Mark for LWCT
We are proud to announce that we have retained our social enterprise mark again this year. The Social Enterprise Mark independently proves when a business or organisation puts profits towards social or environmental good.
We are one of only four community transport schemes to have this mark, the other 3 being very large schemes in the south of England. The Social Enterprise Mark is only awarded to credible social enterprises that can prove they operate with the central aim of using income and profits to maximise positive social and/or environmental impact, taking precedent over a requirement to maximise personal profit for owners and shareholders.
We are proud to be one of the few community groups to have achieved the Social Enterprise Mark in Wales. Being certified with the Social Enterprise Mark is independent proof that our business is not only good for our customers but good for society too.
Not only have we be awarded this Mark for another year, we have been selected to be one of the social enterprises that demonstrate to other applicants, effective examples of social impact statements and supporting evidence. Apparently we are an interesting example! Making a Mark
We were also selected as the feature Mark holder for the newsletter, for February 2016.
The following is from an email received from Sophie Butland, Marketing and communications officer at Social Enterprise Mark.
I thought you may like to know that we are featuring Llanwrtyd Wells Community Transport in the ‘Making a Mark’/social impact section of the website, as an interesting example of measuring and demonstrating impact/value.
You may have noticed in our recent newsletters that we are featuring examples chosen by my colleague Richard Cobbett. Richard has decided to feature your example for the next newsletter, this is due to be published within the next week.
We have been nominated for an award through the Social Enterprise Mark scheme and have been shortlisted as one of just 7 social enterprises in the whole of the UK, and that in itself is a massive achievement that we are extremely proud of.
We attended the Social Enterprise Mark “Standing up to Scrutiny” conference to find out the results of the Making A Mark competition. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us. Winners or not, to be shortlisted against so many wonderful organisations was a feat in itself for our little organisation!
Following a public vote and a separate vote by the independent Certification Panel (both accounting for 50% of the final result), we were announced as the runner-up in the Making A Mark Competition, a fantastic achievement!
