They have been announced as the winners for the&nbsp;<strong>Best Rural Social Enterprise, Charity or Community Project<\/strong><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> at the&nbsp;Rural Business Awards,<\/span>&nbsp;for&nbsp;t<span style=\"color: #222222;\">he <strong>Wales and Northern Ireland Region,&nbsp;2019-20<\/strong>,&nbsp;and&nbsp;they have won the&nbsp;<\/span><strong>Serving Rural Communities Award<\/strong>, at the Community Transport Awards. Also, their friends from the Landed Festival, whom LWCT supports, have won an award.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.28cm; background: #ffffff;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\">The Amazon-sponsored Rural Business Awards regional final for Wales and Northern Island,&nbsp;took place on November 8<sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">&nbsp;2019, and LWCT were named one of the best rural businesses in the country. Their award was for <\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Best Rural Social Enterprise, Charity or <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Community Project<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\"> 2019\/20 in t<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">he Wales and Northern Ireland Region. The award&nbsp;ceremony was&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">held at the<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Wrexham Glynd\u0175r University<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> and was region<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">ally sponsored by Openreach<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.28cm; background: #ffffff;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Following this&nbsp;impressive achievement at the regional final, LWCT wi<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">ll now go on to represent Wales and Northern Ireland at the national final in February 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Community Transport Awards took place on November 12<\/span><sup><span lang=\"en-US\">th<\/span><\/sup><span lang=\"en-US\">&nbsp;2019, at the Football Hotel, Manchester and LWCT won the <strong>Serving Rural Communities Award <\/strong>sponsored by <\/span><span style=\"color: #1d2228;\">Courtside Conversions<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Also in November, the Landed Festival was successful in the 4<\/span><sup><span lang=\"en-US\">th<\/span><\/sup><span lang=\"en-US\"> Welsh Hospitality Awards in winning the <strong>Best Welsh Festival Award<\/strong>, and LWCT offer their hearty congratulations to everyone involved with the festival. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Landed Festival takes place on the Doldowlod Estate between Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader in the month of August, and was well-supported this year with about 600 people enjoying the entertainment. It is in its eight year, and is an independent family and young people festival of Music, Art and Entertainment, made possible by support from LWCT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.28cm; background: #ffffff;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\">LWCT first became operational in 2002 and was the brainchild of&nbsp;Dave Brown, who could see the need for a community transport scheme because of the difficulty in accessing, and the sparsity of public transport in this very rural area. The organisation has gone on to provide not only transport but coffee clubs, a community garden, games afternoon, working with the Probation Service to support young offenders, in conjunction with PAVO is now setting up and managing a Volunteer Bureau. To help subsidise transport costs, the organisation has set up an Events Recycling arm and Sportscare Services, providing fully qualified first aiders for sports events and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.28cm; background: #ffffff;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\">LWCT would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all its staff, volunteers and users of our services.
